Linen When washing your linen make sure to cold wash on a gentle cycle and always avoid harsh washing products. After washing your linen hang to air dry, lay it flat on a towel or a rack for best results. To have a crisp finish to your linen, iron on medium heat with the item inside out while the garment is slightly damp. Make sure you always put your linen away clean and crease-free in a cool dry closet. Linen is a great Summer holiday staple, so if you are traveling, roll your items to avoid creasing. Try to wash your denim less to keep their shape and longevity. If you do not have the time to hand wash your denim, wash them inside out on a delicate and cold wash. Avoid heat in the drying process if possible by hanging them to dry to a shaded space. Protect your denim by hanging them over a hanger or fold them in your wardrobe.. If you are going to store your jeans over Summer make sure to roll them and put them in a cool dry space. Knitwear We always suggest hand washing your knitwear unless the GAZMAN care instructions advise that machine washable is appropriate. We recommend only washing when necessary, or as an alternative let your garment air out for a couple of days out of direct sunlight. As lambswool and merino are delicate fabrics make sure to only wash in cold water and with a wool friendly washing product. When drying, lay the item flat and in a shaded area. If you wish to iron your item, use a low temperature or a steamer with the knit inside out. Avoid hanging your knitwear as this will distort the knit’s shape. We strongly recommend folding when storing away. If you plan on storing over Summer, keep your knitwear in a cool and dry space that has airflow. Sport Jackets Start by reading the care instructions on your sports jacket. Harsh chemicals from dry cleaners may shorten the life of your jacket.Unless the jacket has been marked or stained, you may only need to take your jacket to the dry cleaner once a year depending on how often you wear the garment. If you do not have access to a steamer to remove light creases from your sports jacket, try hanging it in the bathroom while you take a hot shower so that the steam can help relax the wrinkles from the jacket or ironing using a press cloth. If you have deep-set wrinkles take your jacket to your trusted dry cleaner. For storage, make sure you hang the item somewhere cool and dry and on a quality hanger and garment bag. Make room in your wardrobe for your suits so that they can drape correctly and avoid wrinkling. Chinos Just like jeans, we suggest washing your chinos only when necessary. When machine washing make sure to place the item on a cold delicate wash with the chinos inside out and all buttons and zips done up. The washing products used may affect the longevity and quality of your chinos so make sure to use a suitable washing detergent. Wash your colours separately and immediately remove from the washing machine to avoid any colour bleeding onto other garments. Hang your items to air dry or dry on a low heat to avoid shrinkage. When storing, fold in half and hang over a hanger to avoid wrinkles. Shirts Wash your shirt unbuttoned on a cold and delicate cycle. If you have any stains, try to spot clean before placing the item in the machine. Hang the shirt to dry on a hanger with the top two buttons done up to maintain the shape of the shirt. When ironing, make sure to check the fabric content so you can select the appropriate heat setting for your iron. Cotton can usually take more heat over synthetic fibres. Everyday shirts should be hung buttoned-up, occasion shirts can be folded and placed in a cotton bag for breathability and stored away. Seasonal storage When storing your clothing items make sure they are washed to prevent stains from setting in and completely dry before putting away. Consider the temperature of the space, where the easiest and best option might be under a bed or a secondary wardrobe space. Keep in mind the temperature of the room all year round and if any moisture can get in. If you are storing your clothing away for short periods, we suggest using clear plastic bins so that there is no need to rummage through to find what you need. If you do not have a lot of space and need to store it in something like a suitcase, we suggest rolling your items for airflow.
