Spring at GAZMAN is all about being laid back and playful with fresh colours and uncomplicated outfits. This season we tried to hone in on that playfulness and focused on four different types of GAZMAN characters: Mr. Active - It’s hard to make golf look easy. But it’s also easy to make it look hard. Whichever way Mr. Active looks good doing it. The Events Guy - The guy that is outfitted and ready for any event, always looking put together in a cruisy effortless way. The Entertainer - Loves his comfortable, casual ensemble that has him looking ready for any visitor popping by. The Traveler - Queues, delays, missed connections, and the only creases you’ll see around this guy are in the brows of his fellow travelers. To help give these characters some pop we asked the ultra-talented illustrator Jorge Lawerta to assist. Jorge used bold colours, crisp lines, and popping illustrations to bring these characters to life! We asked Jorge a few questions about himself and his art style. Tell us a bit about yourself. My name is Jorge Lawerta, I’m from Valencia (Spain) and I’m an illustrator. I’ve always loved to draw, I work with a passion for illustration so that makes everything easier. Where do you find inspiration? I find that inspiration is everywhere! Always just behind the corner waiting for you! Anything I like and fulfills me is a good material to work with for inspiration. Normal things in life like food, music, and skating. I’m not trying to send a message, simply just to share what I like. Where are you from and how does that affect your work? I’m from Valencia, Spain, and I guess the Mediterranean way of life affects my way of living (obviously) and working. Maybe I’m a bit chaotic, not too organized, but my sense of humour and the way of living here build my style. It’s inevitable that the way you live is in the way you work. How would you explain your art style in 3 words? Simple, colorful, and bold Which trends inspire your current work? Well, right now I love abstract art. I’m trying to jump into it and do my own thing. What are some tips to get your creative mind flowing? I think music/podcasts, good coffee, and a very empty agenda help my mind to start working.
